KSA Prometric Examination, not so basic for me!

For us Nurses examination is part of our life, from college examination to Licensure examination which we need to take not only once but "FOREVER", particularly to the country that we wish to work with, wherein we need to comply to their licensing body for us to practice our profession to their country.

In my case, I suddenly felt an urge to take KSA Prometric Exam
well because I have a job offer bound to the Kingdom, And also the agency gave me an option to take it when I arrive in Saudi and be restless or to take it here in the Philippines and nothing to worry about if I ace the examination.
So then I chose the best option to take it here.

Let me just give you a brief overview about this licensure examination. Prometric Examination particularly Saudi Prometric Examination is of course a  qualifying exam for nurses who want to work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is a 2 hour and 30 minute, multiple choice and computer based examination.
I don't have any idea if same goes with other country that uses the company for their licensing exam. Like the Time limit and what not.

October 2nd of 2016

I finally received my eligibility numbers, which I requested Sept 28, 2016 like what I said in my previous post and I received it via SMS and Email. So then I open my laptop and go the directly to the Prometric website. After filling out all the information needed, it's time to choose for your prefer schedule. At first I chose October 07, 2016 at 1100H which is Friday. But I was chatting with one of my colleague that time that I chose that schedule. And she told me if I am sure about it, because it is Friday and first Friday of the month to be exact. And I asked her why? and what's the problem with it?. She just told me, it might not be a good choice because of superstitious belief and Friday is last day of Filipino week. But it's really up to me if I really want that date. I felt nervous about what she said,  and nothing to loose if you will follow that belief, like we always say. So then I changed my schedule to October 06, 2016 at 1030H, Thursday. After I finally made up my mind I hit the submit button and pay for the examination which cost me 90 USD. No hidden charges at all.

After I got my schedule, I started to browse the Saunders 5th edition pdf file, which I got from the forum. I only had the Q and A edition and started answering questions. I allotted most of my hour in reviewing because I only have three days, cramming it is and at the same time a challenge for myself.

To be honest I am not satisfied with what I had during my review hours, because I always get 50% of the passing score and worst is failed scores. I know most of us can relate to this because we always wanted and aiming for a passing score. However, that didn't stop me to review more and focus on my goals.

October 06th of 2016

I woke up at 0500H to prepare for my second most nerve wracking day. Because first was during PNLE days. hehe.

I had my light breakfast to prevent from stomach upset, in my case I guess. Took a bath and Left home at 0630H. Punctuality is a big deal for me so I always leave our house to the most earliest time, especially for an important day like this. Though I'm just 45 minutes to 1 hour away from the testing center with heavy traffic. I wanted to be relax before I take the exam.

0800H I arrived at the testing center in ATENEO PROFESSIONAL SCHOOLS, 2/F 130 HV DELA COSTA STREET, SALCEDO VILLAGE, MAKATI CITY. You will be signing in from the Security Guard's logbook upon arrival and the security will be asking for your printed Confirmation Schedule as well. After that he will then head you to the second floor of the building, it is just a 2-floor-building so nothing to worry about being lost.

When I got to the second floor, I went to the Comfort Room first, to pee and loosen up at the same time. And also there is a prayer room there wherein you can ask for God's Guidance. So I prayed and thank the Lord for that day.

0815H I entered the room, the door that has a Prometric Signage on it, so I'm pretty sure that I'm entering the correct room. I was then asked by a lady to sign from the attendance sheet and handed me a key for the locker where I need to put my belongings, because nothing is allowed inside the examination room. And she also asked me to read the General Instruction first and If I'm ready to take the exam I can call her attention anytime. Though my schedule is at 1030H, I asked the lady if I can take the exam immediately and she said I can if I wish to. 0825H she ushered me to the exam room, took my bio metrics and presented ID, in my case I used my passport.

Finally I was ushered to the cubicle, and maybe a coincidence my assigned cubicle was number 6. Which is the date during that time. Just another superstitious belief in me lol..

So, I just sit and navigate the computer. The first part would be of course the General Instructions, up until I reached the first question, which gave me a heart pumping and a sudden headache. My first question was all about staph aureus, basic as it may seems but when you started to get nervous it's a different story.

But as the question goes by, I feel a little at ease but same thing the questions for me is hard. I find it difficult, maybe because I wasn't able to review for a long period of time.

Some test takers says, they "mark" or "flag" the questions that they are not sure about their answers. But in my case I just go with it and whatever gut feel that I had I stick with it, I stick with my first answer.Until I reached the 100th and the last question and ticked my answer for it. And I raised my hand to call the attention of the exam coordinator to call his attention that I'm done with the exam. And he asked me to click on the "End" button, but right before clicking on the "End" button. I prayed and Thank our Lord God Again.

And finally upon hitting the "end" button, I saw that I made it. I was like a lottery winner, who can take home and won the jackpot. I saw my grade and the word "PASS". My grade is not that good, but for me that is much better rather than not to make it.

The coordinator instructed me to wait for my printed grade sheet. And also asked me to sign out from the attendance log sheet. Actually because of nervousness my hands are still shaking. And when the exam coordinator asked me to sign on the attendance sheet, it's way different from my previous signature so he asked me to sign again. hahaha.. And after signing he handed me my Grade Sheet and Congratulate me.

Tips : Aside from Answering tons of Practice Questions and Answers, which I know most of us did, The ultimate tip that I can give is PRAY, PRAY and PRAY and Thank the Lord. Because nothing is impossible with him.

P.S. : I was categorized as a Nurse Technician because of my working experience. I only had 2 years of clinical experience. I know most of you is familiar with this categorization.

For Nurse Specialist : 3 years and above of clinical experience required
                               50 /100 passing score

For Nurse Technician: 2 years clinical experience required
                                45 / 100 passing score
